Artist Statement

I create colorful, imagined landscapes that exist somewhere between the familiar and the otherworldly. Mountains, clouds, and open horizons become transformed through vivid color, encouraging viewers to see the natural world with a renewed sense of wonder.

My work is rooted in the understanding that we cannot change the past or return the land to everything it once was. We can, however, decide what we protect for the future. The unusual colors suggest another world, yet the landscapes remain connected to our own, because we often look elsewhere for something extraordinary when it is already here. Earth is our only home, and protecting its remaining natural spaces is an active choice we can make for the future generations who will inherit them. Through my work, I hope to bring attention to the importance of conserving South Carolina’s natural lands before they exist only as memories.

I graduated from USC in 2014 with a BA in Studio Art. Creating has always been my way of calming my mind and finding presence in the moment, a meditative practice that continues to shape my work today.
